'Teachers have a key role in development'
DH News Service, Kolar:
In our Culture, teachers are shown greatest respect as the society expects a great responsibility of inculcating values and developing the personality of the future citizens of the country, Town Municipal administration and District In-charge Minister Alangur Srinivas said.

The teachers of the government school are themselves the main cause for the development of the private schools and it is because of all these, the private schools are developing, said Town Municipal administration and District In-charge Minister Alangur Srinivas.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Teacher’s Day programme organised jointly by the District administration, Zilla Panchayat and Public Instruction department.

Mr Alangur Srinivas also unveiled the photograph of Dr S Radhakrishnan.

In our Culture, teachers are shown greatest respect as the society expects a great responsibility of inculcating values and developing the personality of the future citizens of the country, he added. In this respect, teachers have a very major role to perform, the Minister said.

He also expressed his dissatisfaction over the increase in the number of illiterates in the country. He also said that the education field is also not spared of communal clashes and corruption and the fact that this field is also contributing to such unfortunate events is very shocking.

Hence, there is a need to instill great values such as secular, non communal values for the betterment of the country, the Minister stated.

The state government has planned to make arrangements to pay salaries on time to the teachers community. On the other side, these teachers by making proper use of the facility from the government, have to impart quality education to the students, Mr Alangur Srinivas added.

Chief guest of the occasion Member of Legislative Counsil V R Sudarshan said that the Day is very apt to discuss the problems faced by the teachers and the students today.

There is a need to get rid off the differences between the city and rural area students in terms of education and it is the duty of the officials of the Education department to take proper measures, he said.

Mr Sudarshan also appreciated the implementation of the Mid-day meals during the tenure of S M Krishna as the Chief Minister and said that there is a need to make more and more students join schools.

Member of Legislative Assembly  K Srinivas Gowda who presided over the function asked the teachers to be impartial and to give quality education to all irrespective of their castes, tribes, religions and so on.

Rs one lakh grants will be given from the MLA’s fund for the construction of Gurubhavan and more importance will be given for the development in the field of education, he assured. Zilla Panchayat president V Venkatamuniyappa, Deputy Commissioner G Ramachandra, District Government Employees’ association president L Manjunath, president of Teacher’s Association Sampath Kumar and others were present.

Zilla Panchayat Vice President Krishnamma, JD(S) leaders Byalahalli M Govinde Gowda, K C Shankare Gowda, DDPI Nagarajan, Prahlad Gowda and others were present.
