Member of Parliament R L Jalappa on Wednesday alleged that the coalition government in the State was showing a step-motherly attitude to the newly formed district by not providing proper facilities.
Addressing a press conference, here, he said, the district has been formed in a great hurry. Only Rs 6 crore has been released for the development. Is it possible to run the district with such a meagre amount, he asked.
The district should have been named Sir M V district. Funds should have been released for the development of roads and drainages in the district centre.
But without doing any of these, they are releasing crores of rupees for Ramanagar, Holenarasipur, Shikaripura development.
Why is it that they show favours only to Ramnagar and not to Chikkaballapur, Mr Jalappa asked expressing his ire against Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy without referring to his name.
Proper power supply
The farmers should be given proper power supply, sub stations should be increased, APMC should be given more facilities and the facilities at the taluk and hobli level should be increased, he warned the government.
Why hurry?
Just the term is coming to an end crores of rupees is being released for development works, why this hurry, he asked.
Crores are coming as taxes from IT, BT sector to the State. Even the Centre is giving a lot of grants for the State.
In such a situation, the JD (S) should not feel that it is their personal freedom. Use the money for development works and give importance to the people’s welfare. Do not think that the power is permanent, he said.
Reacting to the disruption during his speech at the Chikkaballapur district inaugural function, Mr Jalappa said that his party workers would hold one more convention in response to the previous one.
Predicts election
Mr Jalappa said that politics is in his blood and he would not give it up. In just six months there will be a mid-term election in the State, he predicted but added that there will be no threat to the Centre.
Asked if Siddaramaiah had been sidelined, Mr Jalappa replied that by the end of this month he would get a top post in the party.
In the local bodies election there will be an understanding with the like-minded parties. But when it comes to the Congress in Chikkaballapur there is no reason for any truck with any party, he said.
Leaders G H Nagaraj, Ashwathanarayan Reddy, Yeluhalli N Ramesh, N Sampagi, K V Naveenkiran, Hanumappa Reddy, R Ashok, Manjunath, Hanumegowda, Narayanswamy, Khodays Venkatesh, Mohammed Dawood, D R Nanjundappa and others were present.
