Demanding renewal of licence for the construction of church in Tipu nagar, the Activists of Dalit Christ Union began indefinite strike, in front of the town hall in Bangarpet on Tuesday.
Foundation for the construction of church was laid in the last year, in Tipu nagar, after obtaining permission from Kolar Gold Fields and Bangarpet Urban Development Authority, and the town municipality.
However, a section of the society has objected to the proposed church construction and hence, the protesters said, the renewal of licence to build the church was demanded.
Meanwhile, Dalit Sangharsha Samiti taluk convenor Hoovarasanahalli Rajappa and convenor C J Nagaraj have extended their support to the Dalit Christians.
