“Teachers have a great role in instilling values of life to the children apart from educating them,” said Deputy Commissioner K R Niranjan.
Speaking at the Teacher’s Day celebration organised by the Zilla Panchayat, department of Public Instruction and Karnataka State Teachers Welfare Fund at St Joseph’s School premises on Wednesday, he said “by instilling values at an early age, students will develop a feeling of oneness and harmony in the society.” Teachers have a responsibility of making the children to live as humanbeings in the society.
He said there is a close relationship between teacher and a society. They will help in building a healthy society.
He said teaching is a noble profession. One should not compare teaching profession with that of other government employees.
MLA K G Bopaiah said there is a need to put an end to the additional works being given to the teachers. Such additional work is a mental harassment for the teachers. Teachers play a vital role in moulding the personality of the student.
Zilla Panchayat Standing Committee on Education President V P Shashidhar said teachers have a role in creating pro-social views in children.
As many as six teachers received District-level Best Teacher award for their service rendered to the education field.
They are K Jayashankar of Chettimani Government Model Primary School, P E Nanda of Suntikoppa Government Model Primary School, A K Lalitha of Devanagere Government Model Primary School, K A Ramachandra of Hakathuru Government High School, K A Sunitha of Kanbailu Government High School and K N Manjunath of Ponnampete Government PU College.
