One H R Harish of Hanagal in Somwarpet taluk has died under suspicious circumstances. His wife, relatives and friends have alleged that he has died because of police atrocity.

Harish was the car driver of MLA B A Jeevijaya’s son Sumanth. It is said that there had been a verbal exchange between Harish and the police on Tuesday evening, after Harish was found speaking on mobile phone near Circle Inspector’s office in Somwarpet, who had parked his two-wheeler on the road side. 

Harish’s relatives have alleged that the police had taken him to the station and assaulted.

Ms Nirmala, the wife of Harish told reporters that her husband had called her over phone and informed that a total of six police has beaten him in the station.

Harish had been shifted to the District Hospital after getting first aid in Somwarpet hospital. However, he died on Wednesday morning after the treatments failed.

In the meantime, Somwarpet police have clarified that Harish died in an accident, who was riding having drunkened. The truth can be revealed only after the post mortem.
