This September, the design store Ambara present a unique exhibition titled ‘Borders’. Arti Shantakumar of OMO (On My Own), Mumbai, has created a special line of Indo-Western wear using borders as accents.
Arti’s line of clothes is a perennial favourite with the young and not-so-young. ‘Utsav’ of Delhi brings its special bounty of woven and printed saris, dupattas and fabrics sporting borders. The border traditions in this collection were shared by textile conceptualiser Shashiv Chandran with the handloom weavers and handblock printers.
Gallery Dravidam presents the paintings of an emerging artist Appanna Pujari who draws inspiration from the Basholi School. For the exhibition, Appanna has worked on a special series of paintings with intricate borders.
Ambara will also launch its jewellery section which will display the creations of four different designers. In addition, Indo American Hybrid Seeds introduces garden accessories in stained glass by Sudha, besides terracotta and clay by Kumbham Murals from Kerala.
The garden is ablaze with colourful annuals and a wide selection of potted plants and imported orchids. Also on display are imported stoneware.
This special event is on till Saturday, September 8 at Ambara, #119, Annaswamy Mudaliar Road (beside Foto Flash), Ulsoor. Ph: 25575196/ 25572829.
