The ongoing crises in the Ghulam Nabi Azad led coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir took a new turn on Wednesday, when senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) minister Qazi Afzal refused to attend to his work even as the Chief Minister rejected his resignation.
Qazi Afzal resigned on Tuesday, after Ghulam Nabi Azad divested him of forest and environment portfolios and retained only housing and urban development to him.
The Chief Minister rejected Qazi Afzal’s resignation and in a letter asked him to continue his post in the government.
Ghulam Nabi Azad also gave a clean chit to the Peoples Democratic Party minister saying he was not involved in any corruption case and assured him that the issue related to divested portfolios would be also sorted out.
Another letter
On Wednesday, Qazi shot up another letter to the Chief Minister saying he would not join duty and that the issue be sorted out with Peoples Democratic Party leadership.
“Thank you for your letter reiterating your trust in my functioning as a member of the council of ministers and acknowledging that there was nothing adverse about my handling of the forest portfolio,” he said.
The Peoples Democratic Party minister also added that Ghulam Nabi Azad’s letter has side-stepped the crucial issue raised by him in his resignation letter.
