A fake lab technician duped an elderly woman of her gold jewellery worth Rs 45,000 at Kidwai Institute of Oncology in Wilson Garden police station limits on Thursday.
Sowbhagyamma (68), accompanied by her daughter-in-law, had come to the hospital for a check-up.
While the attendant was busy running around for scanning reports, a youth posing as a doctor called out Sowbhagyamma’s name and asked her to remove all the jewellery before getting into the X-ray room.
The woman, who followed his instructions, realised later she was duped.
One killed
A man was run over by an unidentified vehicle on Bellary Road in Yelahanka traffic police limits on Thursday. He has been identified as Venkata Swamappa, 45. The body has been shifted to M S Ramaiah Hospital.
House burgled
Valuables worth Rs 46,000 were stolen from a house in Kengeri New Town. Residents were away when the incident occurred.
