Holding IT firm responsible for decline in engineering standards in the country, Indian Institute Information Technology (III-T) Director Prof S Sadagopan on Thursday said they were too obsessed with software and not engineering.
Speaking at the inauguration of International Conference and Exhibition on Advances in Electrical, Electronics, Communication and Information Technology, he said IT companies in India, specially in Bangalore, were not doing much for empowerment of engineering and all that IT professionals were obsessed with was software, which is only a tool. “What we need from these IT professionals who have graduated from engineering stream is to strengthen engineering and not merely cut and paste from one screen to another,” he said.
He said a number of reputed IT companies, including a few renowned global ones, was doing the same and not much to improve software on a whole.
