For the functioning of a healthy society the protection of our indigenous culture is very important, opined Karnataka Academy President Srinivas G Kappanna.
Addressing press people in KGF recently, he said that Janapada Rangothsava and Janapada Ranga Adhyayana Workshops would be held on September 7, 8 and 9. It is jointly organised by the Natak Academy, South Zone Cultural Centre and KGF’s BGML , Kannada Mitra Sangha, he added.
Folk theatre is considered as the mother of folk arts. After theatre became a part of the curriculum the nuances of the folk forms and various mode of its adoption and experimentation became the subject of study However, the community of artists are meted out with injustice due to lack of encouragement, he said.
The Natak Academy has made efforts in the right direction by selecting two theatre directors from every district who have contributed immensely and continually to the theatre movement and arranging for exhibition of the various forms theatre and public discussion on the subject, informed Kappanna.
In order to remain away from the city environs it has been decided to hold these kind of workshops in border areas. Moreover, efforts would be directed towards the introduction of modern technology in theatre, various theatre costumes, exhibition and other numerous aspects of the theatre, he added.
