Activists of the All India Students Federation (AISF) on Thursday took out a protest rally demanding that the land of the Government First Grade College being encroached upon should be evicted. Also, they demanded that the Indo-US Civilian Nuclear Deal should be dropped at once by the Central government.
There is a tremendous dearth of classrooms in the city’s Government First Grade College, due to which the B A, B Com and B B M classes are held on rotation basis. As a result the students from the rural areas are facing tremendous problem, the activists informed.
Though last year legislators had assured of sanctioning Rs 40 lakh for the construction of 10 classrooms, the rooms have not been constructed yet, informed the protesters.
Even though the first grade college has a strength of more than 800 students there is shortage of lecturers, classrooms, toilets, library, sports materials , drinking water and other such most basic of the facilities. Thereby the college that has been deprived of the basic infrastructure should be sanctioned with all the afore mentioned amenities, the protesters demanded.
The protest rally was led by the AISF Taluk leader Manjunath, Srinivas and others.
