Vice Chancellor Dr O Anantharamaiah has expressed his happiness over the sanction of land to build the Tumkur University campus.
The long cherished dream of the people of Tumkur will be fulfiled by this, he said addressing a press conference here on Thursday.
Dr Anantharamaiah vowed to make the university a model one and said the first convocation of the varsity will be held in the first half of October.
A syndicate meeting will be convened soon to discuss construction of buildings at the sanctioned land at Bidirakatte, he added.
Various associations have welcomed the sanctioning of land to the university.
In a press release the ABVP office bearers Prithviraj and Fayaz have said that this will go a long way in serving the needs of the people of Tumkur and surrounding areas. They have also requested the government to release necessary funds to undertake infrastructural projects.
President of the BJP Yuva Morcha Byatarangegowda too has welcomed the government move. The government has sanctioned an area of 290 acres at Bidirakatte near Kunigal.
