Dejagow remembers teachers
Tumkur, dhns: “If I have performed well and reached some stage in my professional life then the credit goes to my teachers,” said ‘Nadoja’ award and former vice chancellor of Mysore University Dr D Javare Gowda (Dejagow).
He was speaking at a felicitation function organised by Karnataka Natak Academy and district administration and sharing his thoughts.
Having undergone suffering right from birth and at various stages in life, if there were a few people who came to his aid and supported him, it was a few friends, he recalled with gratitude on the occasion.
Basavanna and Kuvempu who worked tirelessly for the development of the society are the two great souls who have been a source of inspiration in my life and whose ideals I have adopted, he said.
I am serving to the best of my capacity for Kannada literature. Kuvempu’s deekshe and his guidance have been my principles, he said.
He again reiterated that those who have been elected as MPs from Karnataka should fight for classical language status for Kannada. There should be a concentrated effort on their part to put pressure on the Centre to accord the status at the earliest, he demanded.
Mr Justice Sadashivaiah was the chief guest. Prof Krishnaiah, Dr K Maralusiddaiah, Dr Pradhana Gurudutta, Deputy Commissioner S R Umashanker, Natak Academy chairman Srinvas G Kappanna, Nagaraju and others were present.
