Excise police raided two godowns in Puttur and seized goods worth Rs 17.5 lakh. As many as 7 persons have been arrested in this connection.

Acting on a tip off, police raided a illegal arrack manufacturing unit and seized 16,800 arrack sachets, 1,715 litres of spirit worth Rs 39,445, 192 bottles of feni worth Rs 19,200, a Swaraj Mazda and a Maruti van, all worth Rs 12 lakh.

In a separate raid, police seized 525 litres of illegal spirit and a car all worth Rs 5.5 lakh. A total of 7 persons have been arrested while a certain Sachin Naik is said to be absconding.
