Jennifer Lopez wins US $545,000 lawsuit
A California judge has barred a former husband of Jennifer Lopez from publishing negative, denigrating or disparaging details about the actress-singer, reports AP from Los Angeles. Lopez’s lawsuit says Ojani Noa had offered not to publish the unpublished, ghostwritten book in return for US $5 million.
The book claims that during the time of their marriage Lopez had multiple affairs, including one with her third and current husband, Marc Anthony, according to court documents.
Oscar-winning actress Umeki dies
Actress Miyoshi Umeki, who won an Oscar for her performance as the doomed wife of an American serviceman in Sayonara and later starred in the Broadway musical Flower Drum Song, has died of cancer reports AP from Licking(US). She was 78. The Japanese-born actress, the first Asian performer to win an Oscar, died on August 28 at Licking nursing home, said Michael Hood, her son.
Among her other movies were Cry for Happy (1961), The Horizontal Lieutenant (1962) and A Girl Named Tamiko (1962).
Nepal Crown Prince suffers major heart attack
Nepal’s Crown Prince Paras, known for his flamboyant lifestyle, on Thursday suffered a serious heart attack and underwent an emergency angioplasty at a hospital here, reports PTI from Kathmandu. Paras,36, was admitted to the Norvic International Escorts hospital after he complained of chest pain and was stated to be out of danger after the cardiac procedure. A team of doctors led by Indian cardiologist Bharat Rawat performed an emergency angioplasty. “The Crown Prince is out of danger, but we can’t say if he will have another heart attack. There was 95 per cent blockage in his right artery,” Rawat said.
