The launch of two new centres and four new post-graduate level diploma programmes were announced recently by the Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology, a renowned art and design institute in the City.
“The 21st century is already here, but art and design education is out of sync with contemporary culture by at least twenty years- creativity is not what it used to be in the 1980’s or 1990’s. Srishti perceives a leadership opportunity by creating and curating path-breaking ideas and practices in art and design that have global impact”,says founder and director Geetha Narayanan.
The two centres launched are CERTAD- Centre for Education Research, Training and Development, and CEMA- Centre for Experimental and Media Arts. Srishti has expanded its faculty by inducting several new members as well as visiting PhD scholars.
The four Advanced Diploma Programmes started by Srishti are Advanced Diploma Programme in Design in Education (a two-an-a-half year postgraduate diploma that re-examine the relationship between Design and Education), Advanced Diploma Programme in Experimental in Experimental Media Arts, advanced Diploma Programme in Game Design and Interactive Media (a multi-disciplinary approach to explore gaming and related medias) and Advanced Diploma Programme in Animation and Visual Effects (3D animation and multi disciplinary designing).
Srishti already offers four-year undergraduate level Professional Diploma Programs (PDPs) in Visual Communication, Independent Media, Textile Design, Furniture and Interior Spaces and Product and Interface Design.
The works of art and design practitioners of Srishti have been exhibited in countries like Austria,Denmark and France.
