Fun with medley of songs
Jisha S and Bhavya Krishna

Ambedkar Bhavan reverbarated with the cheers of school children as the grand finale of Pogo Funtakshari 2007 championship took place here recently. As many as 100 Bangalore schools competed for the final making this the biggest ever inter-school Antakshari competition in India. The winners of the final won the dream opportunity of featuring on-air on Pogo and becoming an RJ on Radio One for a day.

Deepa Mandal and Nikita Ratnade of Sindhi High School, Hebbal, emerged as the winners from the senior teams and Sehar Khan and Anam Khan of Sophia High School were the champions amongst the Junior teams. The preliminary rounds were held across in around 100 schools in the city and 10 teams were selected. All aspiring participants took a written test evaluating their knowledge of music, to participate in the elimination rounds. The Grand Finale invited the final teams to play the musical game of Antakshari with very distinctive and enjoyable rounds such as Golmaal, Bujho to Jaane, Dumb Charades and Filmi Chakker.

Elaborating on Bangalore being the city of choice for Pogo Funtakshari 2007, Vivek Krishnani, Executive Director, Marketing, Turner Entertainment Networks - Asia Pacific said, “The innovative Funtakshari is our way of giving our viewers across the country a unique interactive platform to enjoy and interact with their favourite channel Pogo. This is a great combination of their favourite channel and their passion which is music”.

In sync with Pogo’s mission statement of encouraging, engaging and educating kids, the programme recognised children’s passion for music and singing and offers them a platform to showcase their singing talent.
