Switzerland based GF AgieCharmilles, a Georg Fischer Corporation Group company, on Friday announced the setting up of its Indian operations in Bangalore. The new showroom will have the state of the art machinery and offer technical sales support, customer training and test cut.
Briefing reporters here, GF AgieCharmilles CEO Jurg Krebser said the new initiative was part of the company’s ‘one vision-one brand-one distributor strategy.’
According to the new strategy the brand as well as all the related services will be marketed through a unique distribution channel.
Future plan
When asked about the company’s plans of setting up a manufacturing plant in India, Mr Krebser told Deccan Herald, that they will take a call on it after analysing the growth and demand for their products in the next few years.
Small market
Mr Krebser said that in the Asian region, India is still a smaller market for their products as compared to China.
“Our business in the Indian market is very less as compared to the $500 million business in the Chinese market,” he pointed out. At present, GF AgieCharmilles is offering electric discharge machines and high speed milling machines for the upper-end segment in the market.
The new strategy will create most comprehensive network, he added. Incidentally, with effect from July 1, 2007 GF AgieCharmilles has merged its former product brands Agie, Charmilles and Mikron under the umbrella brand GF AgieCharmilles.
