Soviet designs In Mid-East

Washington, Sept. 7.
President Eisenhower today re-affirmed his intention to protect the Middle East against a threat of Communist aggression and subversion.
After a two hour meeting between the President and Mr John Foster Dulles, the US Secretary of State, the latter read a statement from the President to this effect.

Lok Sabha Passes Two Bills
New Delhi, Sept. 7.
The Lok Sabha made quick progress with legislative business and passed two Bills within an hour. They were the Inter-State Corporations Bill and the Dhoties (Additional) Excise Duty Amendment Bill. The Law Minister, Mr AK Sen said that the Inter-State Corporations Bill be taken into consideration.

Public Exam For VII Std In State Revived

By A Staff Reporter
Bangalore, Sept. 7.
The State Government has decided to revive the district-level public examination for the 7th Standard from this year to arrest the fall in educational standards, Mrs Nagamma Keshavamurthy, Minister of State for Education, told newsmen here today.

The government had scrapped the public examination in 1978.
