Garuda Mall turned into a musical battlefield recently as the contestants of the ‘Gili-Voice of Bangalore’ competed in the semifinals. The talent hunt jointly organised by Garuda and Radio City is intended to encourage talent and bring together the best voices of Bangalore. Out of the 17 participants, Ankit, Shakti, Raghupati, Supriya, Priyanka and Divya were selected for the grand finale.
The tough selection process was carried out by three eminent personalities from the Kannada filmdom and light music industry- Mano Murthy, Praveen Godkhindi and Chaitra H S.
One guy and one girl from the final contestants will walk away with the coveted title ‘Voice of Bangalore’. The winners will get a fantastic opportunity to be a playback singer in the next venture of the famous Kannada-Hindi film director Indrajith Lankesh. They will also grab Rs 1,00,000 worth Gili diamonds, exciting free stay packages from country vacations and lots of branded merchandise.
The contestants were in the peak of enthusiasm as they got an opportunity to present their talent before the celebrity judges and the high spirited audience at the mall. “This kind of reality shows are really appreciable since they provide a platform and support to unknown talents”, says Nandalal, a semifinal contestant and an army officer by profession.
“It was a great experience for an untrained singer like me to present my flair for music before these eminent judges” says Supriya, one among the six finalists who wants to pursue a career in music.
“The show helped me a lot to increase my confidence in singing and the suggestions from the judges were valuable” she adds. The premises of the central artrium of the Mall were filled with music lovers who cheered for the contestants. The finals are on September 14.
