The Supreme Court on Friday granted interim bail to four accused, including three relatives of Tiger Memon sentenced to life imprisonment in the 1993 Mumbai serial-bomb blasts.
Tiger Memon is the prime accused and has been declared a proclaimed offender in the case.
A Bench of Justices Arijit Pasayat and P Sathasivam granted bail to the accused on the same conditions on which actor Sanjay Dutt and five others were granted bail by the apex court on August 20.
The apex court while granting the bail imposed similar conditions that were imposed on Dutt and others which stipulated that the accused shall surrender to the authorities after obtaining copies of the judgements convicting them.
Tiger’s brothers Yusuf Abdul Razak Memon and Essa alias Anjum Abdul Razak Memon and sister-in-law Rubina Suleman Memon were granted interim bail on Friday. Another woman Mubina Bhiwandiwal sentenced to five years imprisonment for her role in the blasts was also granted interim bail. The accused had sought interim bail on the ground that they were yet to receive the copy of the judgement relating to their conviction pronounced on September 12, 2006 by designated court judge P D Kode.
