This refers to the news report "Towards better traffic management in city"(DH, Sep7)
It is gratifying to note that the traffic police are thinking about effective traffic management. The IGP & Additional commissioner of police has very rightly stated that the key issue of the city is inadequate parking space. To overcome this, there is no other alternative but to construct multi-storey parking spaces with ramps at all the shopping complexes as well as cinema halls & big bazaars. This will automatically reduce congestion on city roads. Main roads have too many cross roads in the city. Wherever feasible, all cross traffic inflow on to the main roads should be diverted so as to make the flow of traffic uni-directional. For this, construction of mini fly over on some nodal junctions also may be looked into. This will go a long way in easing out traffic jams & assist in easy /free flow of traffic in the city.
