All universities in Karnataka should have a common calender which will enable students to seek admissions in other universities and professional courses, opined Higher Education Minister D H Shankaramurthy.
Speaking to a delegation of Amuct (Association of Mangalore University College Teachers) during his visit to the city, he expressed his concern of quality in Higher Education and requested suggestions from teachers.
AMUCT apprised the Minister the unique credit based system introduced by the Mangalore University and suggested that such a model, where extra-curricular activities are given weightage, could be introduced in other universities in Karnataka.
The Minister assured the delegation that he has given instructions to officials to resolve the various issues like placements, arrears, notional increment which were discussed and agreed upon in the recent meeting with teacher leaders. He also agreed to hold another meeting in October to discuss other pending issues.
The delegation consisted of Amuct president Prof Joselyn Lobo, General Secretary Prof Ummappa Poojary and FUCTAK President Prof A M Narahari, informed a press release.
