Diabetes check-up camp
 A special diabetes check-up camp will be held today  at Manipal Hospital in Sharada Devi Nagar at 8 am.The camp is being organised by the Tumkur District Diabetes Association.

The diabetes patients have been directed to come for the examination in an empty stomach. After the check-up the patients would be provided with breakfast at the hospital, according to sources at the hospital.

Also, after the blood examination of the patients at 11:30 am Dr K Rajashekar will be delivering a lecture on ‘Diabetes in the 21st Century. All those interested can participate in the lecture. The  public should make good use of the camp, the organisation release stated.

BJP sets up committee
The BJP against the background of the elections to the local bodies in the district has created a ‘District Elections Managing Committee’. Party President of the District Legislator K S Kiran Kumar, Sericulture Minister Sogadu Shivanna, Parliamentarian S Mallikarjunaiah, M D Lakshmi Narayan, B Suresh Gowda and others will be the office-bearers of the committee. Those interested in competing in the local body elections should send in their applications through their respective local bodies, a party press release stated.

Support to ‘rail roko’
Citizens’ Welfare Association, Maruthi Nagar has supported the rail roko protest to be held today, demanding the construction of the rail over bridge between the Upparahalli and Shettihalli gate, said K S Kumaraswamy, general secretary of the association. Due to the delay in the construction of the rail over bridge, the people residing outside the rail gates are undergoing a lot of trouble, he added.
