Krishna to fight from Maddur
Maddur, dhns: Former chief minister S M Krishna is likely to contest the coming Assembly elections from his home town Maddur. Krishna is said to have told members of the taluk youth wing of the party, that there need not be any confusion in this regard, when they met the former CM, during his visit to the town on Saturday. He has also asked the workers of the party to prepare for polls and build the party from the grassroots level.
Poll rolls by March 10
Hassan, dhns: With work on the district voters’ list complete, preparations are being the final draft will be published by March 10. About 2.80 lakh voters are likely to be left out of the new list. As per the final list, the district has over 12.5 lakh voters; 2.8 lakh voters’ names will be removed, and 34,000 new names added.
Two kids die in wall collapse
KR Pet, dhns: Two children were killed when the wall of their house collapsed at Basavanahalli village in the taluk on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Nanjunda (9) and Roopa (7), both children of Trinesh and Sujatha of the village. The incident occurred when the siblings were playing with other children in the morning.
The two children were crushed under the debris. While Roopa died on the spot, Nanjunda breathed his last at the government hospital in the town. Revenue inspector Puttaraju and village accountant Narayanamurthy visited the spot.
Woman, 215 sheep killed
Bellary, dhns: A lorry ran over a flock of sheep, killing a woman, 215 sheep and three donkeys on the spot, near Vakrani Camp here at midnight on Saturday.
Lakshmidevi (25) is also said to have died on the spot.
The accident occured when the sheep were being taken from Kalyanadurga in Andhra Pradesh, on the Srirangapattana - Bidar State Highway.
