Elixir, the MCA Students Association of Aloysius Institute of Computer Science (AICS) will conduct epITome ‘07, a national-level IT fest at the Eric Mathias Hall in the college premises on October 4 and 5.
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, AICS Director Dr Denzil Lobo said the event was designed to familiarise the IT students with the latest and the best in the field, and also to implement their innovative ideas.
About 20 colleges from various parts of India, especially southern states, will take part in the two-day event. Former president of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Capt John Prasad Menezes, Cambridge Integrated Services India Pvt Ltd Manager Bharath Kumar will be the chief guests of the inaugural ceremony.
The events being organised are Sign up, Gaming, Coding, Marketing, Web Designing, quiz, JAM, Star of epITome, treasure hunt and cultural programmes. The competitions are open for students of MCA, MSc in Computer Science and BE in Computer Science, he said.
In the valedictory to be held on October 5, BBC former producer Adam Clapham will be the chief guest. St Aloysius College Principal Fr Swebert D’Silva will preside.
New campus
Fr Lobo also said foundation stone would be laid for a new sophisticated campus of the Aloysian group on October 20, that would come up at a 20-acre stretch at Beeri near Ullal. The residential campus is currently meant for management and IT studies, satisfying the requirements of international edge. The Rs 40-crore project will be completed in two phases, he informed.
Staff Convener Rakesh Kumar, Elixir head Joel Cutinho, co-ordinator Mohammed Ansar and administrator Puneeth Uchil were present in the press meet.
