“Ignorance may not be a crime but it can certainly be a threat,” said District Sessions Court Judge V M Aradhya presiding over a legal awareness camp organised by Bar Association, District Legal Authority and Information Department.
He said that if a citizen fails to know about his rights ensured in the Constitution, then it will be a impediment for his personal freedom and opined that legal knowledge is necessary to lead a peaceful life.
Civil Judge H B Ravindranath said that free legal service will be provided to women and people with an annual family income below Rs 50,000.
Zilla Panchayat member M C Honnappa inaugurated the programme. Labour Court Judge Ramakrishna, Taluk Panchayat member D J Suresh, Gram Panchayat President H A Gangadhar and others were present at the programme.
