Demanding classical status for Kannada Kalpatru Sanskrutika Vedike staged dharna in front of DC’s office here on Tuesday. As a symbol of gesture to the dharna held by D Javare Gowda in Mysore, Vedike had called for the dharna in city in support of this. Vedike’s Prof Maridevaru presided over the event held on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Many organisations like District Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Kannada Sene, District and Taluk Chutuku Sahitya Parishat, Sriranga Tanda, Rockline Balaga, Tumkur Varta Balaga and many other associations supported the dharna in order to draw the attention of Central government.

Freedom fighters and Gandhians were felicitated in function presided over by Tumkur University Vice Chancellor Dr O Anantharamaiah.
