A day after police fired at Labhpur in Birbhum district to quell a violent mob, irate people protesting against a scam in the public distribution system across the district ransacked a BDO office on Tuesday, official reports said.

Monday’s police firing following mob violence left one dead and dozens injured. Several villagers had fought a pitched battle against the police and alleged widespread corruption and breakdown of the PDS system.
