He came, he saw and he lost.
That’s how the deputy Chief Minister Yediyurappa lost his battle from his own once-upon-a-time partner and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy. Soon after concluding the press conference addressed by the State party In-charge Yashwant Sinha, Yediyurappa in the ‘government vehicle’ rushed towards Krishna, the official residence of the CM, at about 8 pm followed by 16 ministers from BJP including R Ashok, D H Shankaramurthy and Dr V S Acharya besides D V Sadananda Gowda.
When he arrived at the CM’s house, he was looking exhausted. His first encounter was with media where he repeated that in accordance to the pact with the JD (S), his party ministers are submitting resignation. It is now up to the CM to decide next, he said.
Leaving behind media persons at the entrance, Yediyurappa with his team climbed upstair where the Chief Minister was holding discussion with his party leaders. He submitted the resignation letter with a covering letter signed by Sadananda Gowda. It was just a three minutes affair.
Yediyurappa came out rushing where again he has to receive questions from the media. “We have all resigned en masse’ as per our decision. Our State president has said in the covering letter that we are resigning to facilitate him (H D Kumaraswamy) to hand over power to the BJP,” said Yediyurappa.
His cabinet colleague R Ashok said, “We have done our job by submitting resignation. We will wait till October 5 and after that we will decide our course of action.”
However, he has still ‘full faith’ on the Chief Minister Kumaraswamy that he will stick to his words. D H Shankaramurthy said, “We have paved way for the CM to hand over power to us. Now it is up to him to regard the agreement,” he said.
For returning to his official residence, Yediyurappa used his private car, leaving the government vehicle at the Chief Minister’s bungalow.
Following his example, three of his cabinet colleagues too dropped the government vehicles at the Chief Minister’s residence. Other ministers who went home in the government vehicle sent the cars to the Chief Minister’s residence.
