GP member S R Ramesh was allegedly abducted on September 13 by two co-members of the GP and their associates in connection with the GP presidential polls.
While the court was dealing with the habeas corpus petition filed by his wife, Ramesh suddenly appeared before the court on September 27 and said he had been kidnapped by GP members A K Gilani and Bachhappa, and three others and let off in the early hours of that day.
In his affidavit, Ramesh said his abductors were being updated about the court proceedings and suspected a nexus between Chikkajala police and abductors. The division Bench comprising Justice K L Manjunath and Justice Jawad Rahim pulled up the police and sought reasons for not arresting the accused. The Bench adjourned hearing on the matter to October 8.

Refund appeals rejected
The High Court rejected a batch of petitions filed by several City residents seeking refund of the property tax collected by BDA prior to introduction of an amendment to BDA Act in July 1992.
The batch of writ petitions filed in 2002 by Srikanta Sharma of JP Nagar and several other residents had sought a direction to BDA to repay the property tax collected from them before 1992.
Justice N Kumar dismissed the petitions while observing that legislature had made necessary amendments, applicable with retrospective effect, and the same could not be interfered with by the court.
