Justice Nayak said the Commission had acted upon a report in Deccan Herald  which cited the student’s father as saying his son ended his life due to the ill-treatment meted out to him by the faculty.

Justice Nayak said he had directed the Home Secretary to hold an impartial inquiry and submit a report within four weeks.

It also ordered a probe to find out whether there was any negligence on the part of police officials in respect of the incident of burning of a Tamil Nadu bus.

Justice Nayak said the Commission needed adequate infrastructure and should be armed with due security personnel to get into real action.
