Airport work on schedule

The Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has completed the installation of all the nine passenger bridges at the upcoming international airport in Devanahalli.

The installation of the eight fixed link bridges — connecting the terminal building and the apron — has also been completed. In the duty-free area, the food and beverage concessionaire was handed over its area of operation in September, while construction work on the retail shops is continuing.

In the baggage-handling areas, the electrical and instrumentation works are nearing completion.
Installation work of the glass elevators and escalators is at present on. 

The installation of the approach lights and the flash lights on the east and the west side of the runway has been completed, while taxiway lights are also being installed.

On the apron area, laying of the final concrete layer is nearing completion. The commissioning of various equipment and systems, including diesel generators, transformers and airfield lights is on. The Bangalore International Airport is set for opening on March 28, 2008.
