Poor response to land auction
Bangalore, dhns: Three out of 11. That was Thursday’s count at the ongoing public auction of government land. Only two agricultural sites and a commercial site, out of the scheduled 11 sites in Bangalore South taluk, were auctioned while eight sites failed to find bidders.
A four acre 10 gunta agricultural site in Manavarthe Kaval (Uttarahalli Hobli) was auctioned at Rs 2.9 crore. The guidance value in the area is Rs 40 lakh per acre. Another site, measuring nine guntas, in the same survey number was auctioned at Rs 29 lakh. The only other site auctioned on Thursday was a six acre two gunta commercial site in K Chodahalli Village (Uttarahalli Hobli), that was bought for a paltry Rs 6 lakh. The guidance value itself is Rs 40 lakh per acre. In all, the Revenue Department clocked Rs 3.25 crore by auctioning 10 acres and 21 guntas of land.
Animal census in progress
Animal Husbandry Veterinary Services Commissioner Dr D S Aswath on Thursday said that 1,362 supervisors are pressed into service for the animal census work, which commenced on September 15.
The census, which will conclude on October 15, will have supervisors counting ox, buffalo, horse, sheep, horse, donkey, dog, rabbit, hen etc.
The supervisors will also count agricultural, dairy and fisheries equipment, he said. Information will also be collected regarding various species of ox. Also, separate census for stray and pet dogs will be conducted, he said.
