Demanding basic amenities and regularisation of the lecturers in J O C, Students Federation of India (S F I) staged a protest in Koratagere on Wednesday.
Hundreds of students took part in the protest and a rally was taken out from city bus depot to taluk magistrate office. The students have accused the government of having an indifferent attitude towards J O Cs.
“The students belonging to the lower strata of the society mainly from families of marginalised farmers and workers join J O C’s in the hope of a guaranteed job.
But due to government’s apathy they are not being benifited in any way.This one the main reason for the closing of J O C’s, which is crushing the hopes of these students,” alleged V Ramesh district president of S F I.
He also threatened that if their demands were not fulfiled by the government in a week, they would go on an indefinite strike.
S F I district secretary Pavan Gangadhar, J O C Vidyarthi Horata Samiti’s Suresh, Sanjeev Kumar also adressed the students.
Shivanna, Bhojanna, Pavitra, Manjunath, K P Pavitra, Amrut, Pavan Kumar, Soumya and others lead the protest.
