500 saplings planted in city
The employees of ServiceMaster, a service solution provider firm, planted 500 saplings in the City and donated blood to mark their company’s third anniversary on Saturday.
Saplings were planted on roads from HSR Layout signal to Marathahalli flyover, under the initiative of the octogenarian environmentalist, Salumarada Thimmakka. Thimmakka said that corporate houses should come up with tree planting programmes to protect the environment.
Environmentalist A N Yellappa Reddy said, the depletion of tree cover is creating havoc on the environment.
Medals to BSNL staff
Fifteen BSNL employees were conferred the Vishisht Sanchar Seva Padak 2006-07 by the Karnataka Telecom Circle on Saturday in recognition to their meritorious service rendered by.
The awards instituted in four categories were given away by B G Meemamsi, member (Tech), Department of Telecom (Retd).
Speaking on the occasion, T S Kuppuswamy, Chief General Manager, Karnataka Telecom Circle said that BSNL in the Karnataka Circle was undertaking various expansion plans to reach out to the public in a bigger manner.

School bags to 250 Government Primary School children and artificial limbs to physically challenged people at Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain Hospital along with a wheelchair were distributed.
