According to the police, Balaraj (28) climbed an electric pole to repair a transformer. In the process, he came in contact with a live wire and suffered an electric shock. His hands and legs were completely charred.

Immediately, Balaraj’s brother Narasimha disconnected power supply and brought him down.

“We told Balaraj not to climb the pole till the Bescom officials came. We asked him to wait with earthing equipment. The tragedy had occurred by the time we reached there,” said a junior Bescom engineer.

Balaraj was admitted to St John’s Hospital.
