Over 1,000 people from various parts of the City participated in the walkathon on `Wildlife Conservation’ held on Sunday.
The walkathon, which was flagged off by Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde, started from Vidhana Soudha and ended at Kempegowda Towers, Lalbagh.
The event was organised by the Karnataka Forest Department as part of 53rd Wildlife Week-2007.
People from various walks of life--advocates, media, wildlife conservationists, government officials besides students actively participated in highlighting the message on wildlife conservation.
During the event, the participants were seen carrying banners, posters and placards with messages including `We want wildlife’, `Stop encroachment’, `No pollution of land’ and `Live and let live’.
