CMR NATIONAL MOOT COURT CONTEST
Mumbai team bags prize

 Aniket Nikam, Chintan Chandrachud and Parinaz Vakil of Government Law College, Mumbai, won the CMR National Moot Court Competition, 2007 on Sunday.

The grand finale of the competition, organised by CMR Law School in Bangalore, was judged by Justice V Gopala Gowda, Justice Manjula Chellur, Justice K Bhakthavatsala, Justice Ram Mohan Reddy and Justice Huluvadi G Ramesh.

The winning team received Rs 25,000 as the first prize while the runners up, Rachita Raj, Vikramaditya S Malik, and Aanchal Jain of NALSAR Rs 10,000.

Team from Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar, scored for the Best Memorial and a cash prize of Rs 5000. Aishwarya C Of Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies was declared as the Best Advocate and also won a cash prize of Rs 5000.

Over 30 law colleges from across India participated in the three-day event out of which eight entered the final round. The participants were judged for their decisiveness, intellect, wit and articulation of both law and fact. Judges for the preliminary rounds were from the Bangalore Bar.

Former Lokayukta Justice N Venkatachala, speaking on the occasion, said that there is a need amongst budding advocates to uphold the rule of law, when they are into the profession.
