Challenges before the newly-elected members
H H Dayanand, DH News Service, Kolar:
Though scarcity of water has been a common problem to the citizens here during summer, that doesn't mean that they are free of it during other seasons.

The elected members of Kolar CMC have a very huge responsibility of providing basic amenities to the district as it devoids of many basic facilities including roads which are unfit to travel, no proper drainage system, lack of drinking water, no gardens and many more problems, which the public think can get over with the newly-elected CMC members whom they expect would take suitable measures and put in their efforts to solve the problems which have been haunting the district since long.

Water crisis
Though scarcity of water has been a common problem to the citizens here during summer, that doesn't mean that they are free of it during other seasons.

This is because of the good-for-nothing water men who fail to supply water regularly inspite of the available water. A similar problem has been faced by the residents of Jayanagar, where inspite of the available water, they still face water crisis.

People demand the Deputy Commissioner who is also the Administrative Officer of the district to take suitable measures to solve water crisis which has been the major issue, else they warn that the authorities will have to face the public’s ire.

Roads here have turned out to be a hell. Though MLA K Srinivas Gowda had taken suitable measures and released grants from the MLA’s fund for the development of these roads, due to inferior developmental works, they are in a very bad state which urgently need repairs.

Poor Drainage
Works have been under progress to maintain a proper drainage system and already funds have been released for he purpose. However, silt has been an exigent problem here and primarily that has to be removed.

Gandhi nagar which is a developing slum area has many problems being faced by many of its residents and the major serious problem being the maintenance of roads. Those who drive in these roads encounter potholes in each and every step.

However, inspite of laying gravels in some roads, this has not yet solved the problem.

It is the need of the hour that atleast now, the maintenance works have to be taken seriously and make travelling easier for the public.

The public now hopes of resolving all these problems in Gandhi Nagar as they hope V K Rajesh who is elected from the area resolves the problem as soon as possible.

Though Rajesh assures of laying down 50 sodium lights in Gandhi Nagar, permission has to be sought from the Deputy Commissioner.

With the Youth coming to power, the public of Kolar hopes that their problems would come to an end as soon as possible.
