Even as it appealed for the members of the ‘Janata Parivar’ to come back to the parent party of Janata Dal (United), its president B Somashekhar on Sunday demanded that the Governor should immediately seek the resignation of chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and dissolve the Karnataka Assembly.
Speaking to reporters, Somashekhar, who was here to participate in the executive committee meeting of the party, said while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already pulled out of the coalition government, the Congress has stated that it would not support the JD(S) in formation of the next government.
“This has clearly reduced the Kumaraswamy government into minority and the governor should lose no time in dissolving the House and ordering fresh elections,” he added.
Noting that there were 70 MLAs of the ‘Janata Parivar’ in BJP, Congress and JD(S), Somashekhar appealed to the secular elements of this group to come back to JD(U) so that they could fight the next elections unitedly.
“Through this, we can give a viable alternative to the existing parties in Karnataka which have ceased to think of people’s welfare,” he said.
JD(U), which is part of NDA at the national level, could bring back the glory of the days of former chief ministers Ramakrishna Hegde and J H Patel if those who left the Parivar come back, he added.
