Villagers staged a protest urging the authorities to repair Kikre bridge in Menase gram panchayat limits. They staged rasta roko at Sringeri-Jayapura road.
Block Congress President Sowbhagya said “Kikre villagers are deprived of bus facilities and other basic facilities. Kikre bridge which was built 25 years ago is in deplorable condition.” She urged the authorities to repair the bridge by next monsoon.
She said “we have submitted memorandums to officials and MLA several time. But no concrete steps were undertaken to repair the bridge. If the authorities fails to heed to our demands, we will intensify our protest in the future.”
Owing to road block, the movement of vehicles were disrupted for sometime. Gram Panchayat President Gopalakrishna visited the spot and assured to initiate measures to repair the bridge.
