Minister of Municipal Administration, Alangur Srinivas addressing the media persons at a guest house in Malur said that the decision to continue with the secular ideology has been taken against the background of the national leaders arriving at this decision in a conclusive manner.
It is not the sole decision of the chief minister, he added.
Though the Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has been saying that he would transfer power since a long time, he cannot take the decision on his own. He will have to abide by the rules and the mandate of the party, informed Mr Alangur Srinivas.
Responding to the question that the chief minister, who had thought that the local body elections would not bear any impact on the government, now after securing greater support of the people is clinging to the power and is blatantly refusing the transfer of power, Mr Alangur Srinivas said that even the people in the urban areas have approved of our ideology.
The results obtained in the local body elections is in itself a testimony to the fact that the people in the cities too are pleased with the youth chief minister’s manner of administering the State. Against this background we are ready to face the elections and we are confident of winning 145 to 150 seats.
When asked about BJP’s claim that the various developmental schemes like the waiver of farm loans, 4 per cent interest rate on farm loans, distribution of cycles to the girl children were all initiated after the BJP became the coalition partner of the JD (S).
Responding to this query Mr Srinivas said that though BJP is in power in other states in the country, all these developmental schemes have been materialised only in Karnataka. How is this plausible?
Even before we had participated in the elections, we had prepared our manifesto. Farm loan waiver, 4 per cent interest rate on farm loans were all clearly stated in our manifesto, observed Mr Srinivas. Also present were legislator H B Dyaveerappa, H Hanumanthappa, B V Papanna, Chandrashekar Gowda, R Prabhakar, P Narayanswami, S Prakash and others.
