Mysore, Andhra Joint Execution
Hyderabad, Oct. 8.
The Andhra Pradesh and Mysore Governments have agreed to take up immediate execution of the Rs 22-crore Tungabhadra High-Level Canal Project- a joint venture of both the Governments and complete the common portion of it with in the next five years.
The common portion of the project, covering over 80 miles of the high-level canal, is estimated to cost Rs 11 crores, the first 38 miles of the canal alone being estimated to cost about Rs 6 crores.
Nehru Call For New Thinking
Tokyo, Oct. 8.
Prime Minister Nehru called today for new thinking, thinking not based on violence or present day’isms’, but new thinking that would answer the problems of this world of atomic energy, ballistic weapons and the artificial moon.

India Will Not Bow To French Demands
New Delhi, Oct. 8.
India today declared that it would never accept permanent safeguards as a condition for French nuclear fuel supply and France would be out of the deal if it insisted on them.
India would then exercise the options open to it, External Affairs Minister P V Narasimha Rao told the Rajya Sabha today. He said France had already said that India could re process the spent fuel.
