Monet picture damaged
Intruders entered Paris’s Orsay museum early on Sunday and seriously damaged a renowned work by the Impressionist painter Claude Monet, the French culture ministry said, AP reports from Paris. A surveillance camera caught a group entering the museum, on the Left Bank of the French capital, which houses a major collection of work by Impressionist artists such as Monet. An alarm sounded and the group left, but not before damaging the painting, Le Pont d'Argenteuil, an official said. A 10cm (4in) tear was made in the Monet painting, possibly with a fist, according to the official.
