The hype surrounding Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited Saawariya, the first Indian film to be produced by a big Hollywood studio, is now set to get even bigger with Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) Films India and and Bhansali’s SLB Films entering into a tie-up with the Future Group to release special merchandise in over 300 Big Bazaar stores across 42 cities.
The Saawariya merchandise will be available across categories like clothing, home, bed, bath and linen and beauty products, and would be sold along with special promotions around the movie for customers, a Future Group official said.
Also available will be an exclusive range of cosmetics, caps, badges, wrist bands, coffee mugs and stationery. Under the tie-up, the film’s lead actors Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor will also make special appearances at all major outlets of the Futures Group.
“Saawariya is a unique collaboration with one of India’s most well known and acclaimed directors, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and is our first local language co-production. Sanjay’s films have always made a deep emotional connection with audiences everywhere, especially due to their visual splendour. Therefore, it is exciting to create high quality merchandise which keeps the essence of the film alive and gives consumers an opportunity to personalise the Saawariya experience,” SPE Films India CEO Uday Singh said.
“Movies are a passion that bind together all Indians, young and old alike. We at Future Group recognise this and are delighted to be associated with a movie like Saawariya, which presents fresh talent and captures the spirit of the youth,” Future Group CEO Kishore Biyani said.
