Chhota Rajan’s aide shot
An alleged associate of fugitive gangster Chhota Rajan was killed in an encounter with police in a northwest suburb, PTI reports from Mumbai.

A police team laid a trap for Santosh Shirke (30) behind suburban Jogeshwari’s Ismail Yusuf College late on Sunday night. The police asked Shirke to surrender but he fired at them. Shirke was killed in retaliatory fire according to the police.

Son sold to save daughter
Unable to bear the expenses of their ailing daughter, a couple  made a bid to sell their 14-day-old son, PTI reports from Kanpur.

However, hospital authorities stepped in time and offered to pay for the treatment of four-year-old Shivani, who is suffering from pelvic tumour.

Shivani, daughter of Rambabu and Chuniya, was to undergo a surgery at the Hellet hospital.

Earthquake in Gujarat, HP
Two earthquakes shook various parts of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh on Monday, UNI reports from Bhuj.

In Gujarat, an earthquake with intensity of 4.8 on the Richter scale, with epicentre in the Rann of Kutch, shook Bhuj, Kutch and Jamnagar among other places at 6. 42 am. Another earthquake of slight intensity, measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale, rocked parts of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh.
