One man's loss is another's gain. With Gautam Gambhir ruled out of action for some two weeks with a groin injury, Tamil Nadu batsman S Badrinath has been called up as replacement for the Delhi left-hander for Thursday's fifth one-dayer against Australia in Vadodara.
From all indications, Tendulkar's injury isn't a serious one. Tendulkar felt his knee gingerly towards the end of his laborious 79, though the injury played no part in his run out. He didn't come out to field as India successfully defended 291 for four.
“He has got a mild strain in his knee,” the Australian said.
“We will assess his condition on the morrow.” The injury isn't serious enough, it is believed, to keep him out of action for any length of time,” he said.
