Mr Kumaraswamy, who turned emotional, told the media after handing over his resignation to the Governor: “Though everybody hailed me for my good work, they questioned me as to why I did not transfer power... If you are hurt, I would apologise... I took the decision due to compulsions.”
He appealed to the people not to put young leaders like him - who want to work sincerely - in such a dilemma by giving a fractured mandate in the election.
He cautioned the people against caste-based politics and said: “The present situation has taken a caste angle... some religious mutts have come into scene.... such developments are not good. Nobody can influence people on caste feelings. Voters are free to take their own decision.”
He said he along with the party MLAs will extensively tour the State and explain to the people on why the party took this decision.
The CM thanked the party MLAs, BJP legislators and officials for their support in running the government. Especially to the BJP, he said he has treated them without any bias and behaved respectfully with all of them. Surprisingly, he did not hit out at the BJP.
