Its a dream come true
Shainu Mohan
Zubin Sharookh Tavaria, 27-year-old marketing manager at Aztec had never even in his wildest dreams imagined he would one day watch a Formula 1 race that too the Gran Premio D'Italia 2007 at Monza, with exclusive Ferrari paddock passes!

All you wait is for the chequered flag to be waved signalling the start of a heart thumping race on the tracks.

We’re talking about Formula-1, among the most expensive and stylish sporting events. The biggest dream of all Formula 1 lovers is to watch a F1 race live in a huge stadium, seeing their star racers in action. Perhaps only few people can turn this dream into a reality.

Despite being a huge F1 fan, Zubin Sharookh Tavaria, 27-year-old marketing manager at Aztec had never even in his wildest dreams imagined he would one day watch a Formula 1 race that too the Gran Premio D'Italia 2007 at Monza, with exclusive Ferrari paddock passes!

Even when he participated in the contest conducted by 91.9 FM Indigo Radio where Formula 1 fans were tested on their F1 quotient, Zubin did not expect the dream flight to Italy to witness the Gran Premio D'Italia 2007, one of the longest running events on the motor racing calendar. Among the 300 shortlisted contestants Zubin was the lucky winner who grabbed the opportunity of a lifetime.

Radio Indigo's RJ and F1 fan himself Rohit Barker accompanied Zubin and stayed at the Four Season's Hotel. “I am extremely lucky to get selected like this. I was really shocked when they announced my name,” he said.

Zubin, sounding as excited as a teenager, recalled that the most exciting part of his travel was that he had the opportunity to witness the race from just 20 feet away and that he had the privilege of staying in the same posh hotel where racers like Michael Schumacher stayed.

“That too in a suite next to mine! Of course, with four bodyguards around him, it was difficult to even get a close look at him,” he added.

“I also got the opportunity to walk in the Ferrari pit, which is undreamable for a normal fan. The start of the race was the most fascinating moment for me,” Zubin went on and added, “I’ve earned myself a lot of enemies among F1 fans after this.” (laughs)

The radio channel turned one on Wednesday and will be giving out more such treats to listeners. “There is much celebration planned. This is such a dream for any F1 fan. We will put out more such concerts, especially with two huge pop acts arriving in India—Black Eyes Peas and Beyonce Knowles,” said National Programming Director of Indigo Radio, Geoffrey Thomas. And that definitely is music to everyone’s ears!
